Description |
Also during the reign of Kirti Sri Rajasinha when the invasion of Dutch in the hill country, and the invasion of British during the reign of Sri Vickrama Rajasinha, they have kept the Tooth Relic temporarily at this vihara. During the riot in 1818 there had been a display of the Tooth Relic at Araththana Rajamaha Viharaya. As the vihara area is at a sloppy land, one should have to descend regularly to reach the vihara which is to the south of the main road. The stupa that can be seen first had been built in the intermediate part of the 19th century. The Bodhi is little below to it. The Bodhi prakara has been built by King Narendrasinha. To the south of the bodhi, there is a large compound. |
