Description |
This viharaya is situated at the village of Dodamwala at the by path of Wathurakumbura which is about 3 km away from Kiribathkumbura on Kandy-Colombo road. To the west of the vihara premises is a canal. To the east is a high hill. The vehara premises lies prolonged on the plane land at the foot of the hill. The stone pillars those lie here and there in the premises, says this is linked to a past history. There are no any other facts to prove the builder and the time of this vihara. But it is said that King Kithsirimewan (301–328 A.D.) had re-constructed this vihara. According to the legends, there was a tank (pond), very famous for water-sports. Close to the vihara, there had been a pond and now it has got filled.1 At the entrance to the vihara premises, there is the avasage and it has been built in the middle of the last century. The preaching hall is to the right side of the avasage. Although it says that the preaching hall has been built in 1882 A.D,and there are evidence that it has been re-constructed several times, later. |
