Description ola sanasa the royal teacher Aththanayaka Bandara had built this vihara. But by the burnt marks on a timber beam says that the Portuguse had destroyed the vihara by with the fire. Later the King Narendrasinha (1707 – 39 A.D.) gave his full patronage to this vihara and there after it was called as Sri Narendrasinha Rajamaha Viharaya. After that the King Kirti Sri Rajasinha (1747–80 A.D.) has given his help to this vihara. The vihara is mostly famous because of the temple that Velivita Sri Saranankara Thero had become a monk and had been schooling. At the vihara site firstly one can see the bodhi. The wall around the bodhi is built as three, terraces with using dressed granite blocks. The other monuments of the vihara above the bodhi maluwa and this compound are separated from the steep by a retaining wall. To the upper maluwa can be reached through the main stairs.
Things to See There are two guards with swords in their hands on either sides. Inside of the shrine mainly is a sedent image of Buddha. On the side walls the various instances of Buddha’s life are painted. On the canopy god Saman, a figure of a King and traditional designs are painted.
