Description |
Later it has been sponsored by Kings Wimaladharmasuriya II, Veraparakrama Narendrasina, Vijaya Rajasinha and Keerthi Sri Rajasinha. In 1802 A.D. during the reign of King Kirti Sri Rajasinha, The tooth Relic had been kept here for safety. The vihara premises is very steep. At the lowest base is the avasage. Inside the avasage, it is decorated with large arches and pillars. Around it, the rooms and the danasalava ,at the edge the kitchen can be seen. The avasage has completely covered with walls as to be endured to the climatic condition of the area. This has been built during the last century. Before that there was an avasage and it’s wooden pillars and pillar caps (pekada) are still remaining at store. One can reach to the upper compound (uda maluwa) and the other components of the vihara premises by a staircase risen high up. |
