during the reign of Parakramabahu IV. Later, during the reigns of Gampola Bhuvanaikabahu V and Vickramabahu III, reconstructions and donating of lands to Asgiriya Vihara have been happened. But it is not clear that the contact of which sub-vihara,have these favours been done. In later reports it is mentioned that the lands have been bought to build the Wijayasundararamaya. This vihara is situated at Dodamwala – Aniwaththa route about 500 meters away, to the east of the Kandy secretariat. (kachcheri). It is taken such name, as the builder of the viharaya was Wijayasundara Rajakaruna Disawa. Firstly, avasage of the vihara can be seen. It has been modernized by adding parts to the old avasage in front. But the old wooden door-frames are there as earlier. On these two door-frames, a pair of lions and a pair of swans are engraved. Other than that, a circular chair donated by King Kirti Sri Rajasinha, can be seen there. It is decorated and coloured with ebony and ivory |
